Today I took time away from quilting to make myself a jacket.

Did any of you participate in the Kaffe Fassett Collective "Fassett-nator" contest last year? Last October I went to the Houston International Quilt Festival and made a fascinator and participated in that contest.

With all this beautiful fabric in the Fenwick Fabrics store, I am chomping at the bit to sew something! Add cute grandkids to the situation, and I’ve found my projects.

I made a new friend on the airplane on the way home from my vacation. I was stitching on my Glorious Hexagon project and the flight attendant, Brenda, paused to ask questions.

I recently attended the Houston International Quilt Market and Festival. This quilt convention is held annually in the George R Brown Convention Center in Houston, Texas.

I was thinking about Christmas morning. My husband, bless his dear heart, is a hard-working guy. He is an extremely giving and generous fella, but he has no time for shopping.

Jeff and I spent last week sailing around the Bahamas. We stopped in Hope Town for two nights. Hope Town is a charming village with little bungalows painted in cheerful colors.

My daughter, Kate, and new daughter-in-law, Emily recently helped me organize my sewing studio.

Lisa worked in the mental health field for 18 years. Now she is following her bliss, creating beautiful little dresses and baby clothes for happy customers.

I participated in Kaffe Fassett’s Color workshop with noted fabric designers, Kaffe Fassett and Brandon Mably. Quilters around the world go out of their way to experience one workshop weekend with these two creative guys. I have been lucky enough to attend two.

A 26-piece collection by Lorraine Turner, textile artist extraordinaire will be hanging in the great hall of quilts, and if you can, you must go see it.
